Program Proposals

Volunteer

The library offers a wide variety of high-quality programs, events and classes for all ages. Library staff members as well as community partners provide programs that enhance the collections, services, and mission of the Traphene Hickman Library.

A limited number of programs provided by community members or organizations are added to spring, summer, or fall schedules. Review the following guidelines for submission of a program proposal:

  • Library programs are free for participants and open to the public.
  • Programs are not used for religious or partisan purposes. Programs are not used primarily for the solicitation of business.
  • Program Proposal(s) must be submitted at least 3 months prior to the proposed date for the program.
  • For a recurring program series, a follow up meeting may be requested along with a written agreement.
  • Presenters may need to submit a volunteer application with background check.
  • Any sales or handouts distributed must be approved prior to the program.

Submitting a Proposal

Staff reviews submissions on a rolling basis, and if your program proposal fits our programming needs, we will contact you. Submission of the program proposal does not guarantee acceptance of the program. These factors are considered when making decisions:

Connection to the library’s mission as well as to other library initiatives or community events.

  • Community needs and interests
  • Presenter qualifications, expertise, and experience
  • Availability of staff to assist with planning and implementation of the program
  • Availability and suitability of physical space
  • Budget
  • Connection to the Cedar Hill community
  • Duplication/redundancy of other current or upcoming library program or city offerings

An alternative to the library hosting a program is to rent an event space for private programs or events.
